There is an inner, living need to become open and submerged, one hard to give into for we have so far been shaped by logics of extraction. When the dominant modes of perception and sense-making are insufficient for the recognition of the deep entanglements in the environments we walk, we need to find new methods for a holistic and non-linear engagement with the planetary conundrums of modernity.
This installation attempts to present a sensory dialogue with the ecologies underground, the seeded, shrouded and, very literally, stepped on and dug out. “Telluric murmurs” tries to create a space of haptic reflection and absorption for the soil-worlds enveloping (and entangled with) our worlds. Through an invitation to listen beneath, to attend to the murmurs of below, we can briefly pause our above-ground perspectives and find relation with the hidden, pulsing life that soil is composed of.
