The news about our spring season starting this Friday has been overshadowed by an announcement by UdK Berlin about the closure of all Master’s programs at the Central Institute for Continuing Education and Transfer (ZIWT). An immediate admission freeze for the academic year 2026 initiated the dissolution of the MA Sound Studies and Sonic Arts program.
We cannot accept this closure. Instead, we demand a forward-looking institutional model for the sonic arts at this university. We appeal to the Berlin University of the Arts to fulfill its responsibility as a player in the cultural ecosystem of this city and beyond!
