Concert series

21-22.02.2025

An event series, expressed as “dExpr.” is a carefully orchestrated sequence of events that unfolds over time. This series is composed of various modes, each with its unique focus. Within each mode, the primary goal is to elevate different artistic mediums to their zenith, directing all creative motivations toward them with compassion.

The essence of the dExpr. experience lies in its multi-sensory nature, encompassing music, sound, dance and visual elements. The key concept driving this series is the exploration of various artists’ approaches to a singular conceptual point. These approaches are then presented sequentially, creating a fascinating tapestry of contrast and harmony.

Throughout the event series, the intention is to craft mindful atmospheres that intensify the experience. This intensity is achieved by breaking down the artistic elements into particles, demolishing preconceived notions, and subsequently redefining their signatures. The result is an immersive journey that encourages viewers to explore opposing and similar perspectives, all converging at the intersection of creativity and expression.

Martina M. Yáñez is a sound artist and Aesthetics bachelor from Concepción, Chile based in Berlin. Her research focuses on creating proposals that foster interactions with nature and its phenomena, involving both organic and technical bodies. Through an exploration of both human and non-human perception, she has developed speculative work around territorial sensitivity as a central axis of large-scale planetary interactions. Her work has been exhibited at Chilean-based events, and her recent writings have been published in both journals and local books. She holds a diploma in Sound Art from the Tsonami Cultural Center, and has taught courses in Art and Media at the Institute of Aesthetics at the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile (PUC), as well as working as a producer for the media arts unit at the Museum of Contemporary Art of the University of Chile.

.00000584” is a 14-minutes live performance which seeks to question the relationship between humans and the telluric forces generated by the natural movements of the earth. In the context of the 15th anniversary of the 2010 earthquake in Chile, the work reflects on the physical and symbolic proximity between geology, time and sound, exploring how mechanical waves caused by seismic phenomena have different impacts on both a human and planetary scale. As a result, the performance delves into a personal seismic memory through interaction with various rocks brought by the artist from her homeland. In doing so, a dialogue with the only witnesses of both living-beings evolution and the dynamic transformations on Earth emerges, giving rise to new tensions between the human apocalypse, the geological necessity, and what is temporally relevant for a planet.

Jasmin London is a multidisciplinary performer, workshop facilitator and movement artist specializing in hula hoop, fire performance, and contemporary dance. With a foundation in circus arts from the renowned FLIC Scuola di Circo in Turin, she has honed her craft through extensive training in physical theater, dance, acrobatics, and clowning. With the artist name Mine her solo performances, including Me, Myself & I and Dear Friend(s), have captivated audiences at festivals and cultural events across Germany and beyond. Jasmin’s artistic journey is driven by a passion for emotional storytelling through movement, blending technical skill with expressive and touching performances.

Zeliha Dogusan is a sound and visual artist from Istanbul who is currently based in Berlin. Her artistic path involves incorporating varied approaches and exploring new experiments in multidisciplinary works. In addition to the Koi Failure project, which she co-created with Gazele and produced and performed in Istanbul’s alternative dance music scene, she continues her own productions with the exploration of evolving soundscapes, blending voice, flute, noise elements, and shifted rhythmical structures.

“Echosoma” is a sound and dance performance with multiple projection mappings that explores the mouth and body as a site of power and vulnerability. By intertwining vocalizations, body movements, and live sound manipulation, it uses and transforms the body into a resonant chamber for sound and expression. This theatrical piece critiques societal listening practices, highlighting how non-male voices and bodies are often confined to stereotypes. It reclaims the intimacy of oral sounds—whispers, hums, and moans—to challenge the eroticization of women’s expressions and assert agency. Using the human body as the primary medium for sound and visuals, the performance emphasizes the gradual sonification of the body, turning it into an evolving instrument of expression and transformation. Through noise as a disruptive force, it subverts norms and embraces chaos as resistance. Inviting audiences to engage with the politics of listening and the complexities of voice and body, this performance confronts themes of identity, power, and liberation in a visceral and immersive way.

Nino Dava – an experimental musician, radio broadcaster, and performer from Tbilisi, Georgia. Drawing inspiration from her classical music training and choral singing in an Orthodox church in the Georgian countryside, Dava combines avant-garde electronic soundscapes with the nuances of choral singing, field recordings, synthetic vocals, spoken word, noise.

marta talvet uses voice and synthesizer to weave minimal yet imaginative songscapes that allow space for sonic as well as linguistic exploration. She is currently studying composition at the UdK Berlin.

Louis Quek is a Singaporean sound artist and electronic music producer whose work delves into the intricate relationship between sound, space, and perception. Blending experimentation with structure, he creates evocative auditory experiences that traverse the boundaries of the physical and the introspective. Through layered ambient textures, fractured rhythms, and dynamic sequences, Louis crafts sonic imageries that persuades the listeners to reimagine their connection to their surroundings and inner worlds. His compositions aim to transcend the ordinary, weaving the material and the spiritual into a unified sonic journey.

Lee Mun Wai is a dancer/choreographer who works independently between his two bases – Berlin & Singapore. In his current practice, Dancing As Agent, Not As Subject, dance becomes an act that allows the one dancing, and the entities in their surroundings, to engage in a relational act of mutual learning, understanding and transformation. Using the notions of perception, memory, virtuality/actuality, his practice employs open-ended strategies to create ways of moving that stay porous in their sensing of their environment. Through these strategies, dance becomes a sensual, focused undertaking, moving not to create yet more images, but instead a body finely attuned to the energies and entities around it.

Overdrive is a representation of the interplay between order and chaos, order symbolizes predictability, structure and control while chaos represents uncertainty, disarray and randomness. These forces are often perceived as diametrically opposed, yet they coexist in nature and human experience, continuously shaping and reshaping one another. Reflecting on the tension and harmony between these opposing forces illustrating how the inundation of sensory information—often overwhelming and fragmented—can converge into meaningful and tangible patterns. As these interactions grow with intensity, it becomes more apparent that the bond between these fragmented elements symbolizing the emergence of the unified systems. The intense stimulation resolves into a balanced, immersive experience, illustrating how structure and chaos coexist to create systems of sophistication and beauty.

Elisa Visca, a multidisciplinary artist based in Berlin, works at the intersection of multimedia art installations, sound design, music and video production. At the core of her artistic practice is an unwavering commitment to embracing diverse perspectives and exploring innovative solutions. Her multimedia approach uniquely integrates music, art, and architecture, fostering a dynamic interplay between performance or installation and venue.

Fat is a Berlin-Istanbul based sound artist who reacts on the interrelationships of all intuition materials in the light of our experiences of perceiving nature, accepts the contexts created by these sensory materials as they are, and desires to disrupt these context, and create new forms.
